Malta with kids?

Malta with kids?

Trying to find a good use for some frequent flier miles and have been reading about Malta. Is this an appropriate destination for children ages 10 and 12? For those who have stayed there, especially at the Hilton, were there many/any families?

We were in Malta in the summer of 2001 with our then 9 and 7 year olds, and had a great vacation!
I think the kids especially enjoyed the day-long snorkel trip we took, the helicopter flight from Malta to Gozo, seeing the Ggantija Temples on Gozo (the oldest free-standing structures built by humans), and the day that we rented a car and drove to a beach.
We didn't stay at the Hilton, but at the Radisson SAS, where we did see many families.
If you're interested, I could go back through my records and get the name of the snorkel tour company.

Annettetx, thanks so much for your reply. I would love to hear more about your experience at the Radisson. Would you recommend it? What room type(s) did you have, as it seems from the web site that the only choices are 2 twins or 1 king? If it's not too much trouble, I would love the name of the snorkel company as well.

My husband and I returned from Malta Nov 2003. We had a great time. I just finished telling a friend (before I read this posting) I do not think this is a location children would enjoy. You should try to find another location. There is alot of history, and this is something children may not enjoy.

I've been to Malta on several occasions and it is a very family oriented destination. The Radisson would definately be a much better choice with Children as they would cater more for families than the Hilton. The Westin Dragonara is another 5 star hotel that has a excellent Kids Club although would be slightly more formal than the Radisson.
