will be in Malta next month, may on a short notice, for 1 week. I am searching for a low budget but clean and quite accomodation.
I have selected 3 properties and would like to know if any of you have stayed there, and how easy they are connected to Valletta by bus:
Europa Hotel, Sliema, 2 stars
Alfonso Hotel, St. Julians, 3 stars
The Strand Aparthotel, Gzira Sliema
Malta: which hotel ?

Fabio, there isn't a lot of traffic on this board for Malta, so let me try to answer your question.
First, Sliema and St. Juliens are easily connected to Valletta by bus. Also, there is a ferry that runs between Sliema and Valletta.
Second, I would advise you to go to TripAdvisor and get reviews of those hotels. You can get really good feedback there from people who stayed in them.
FYI, from my research (I am leaving tomorrow for Malta), I found the Bayview and Waterfront to be the best bang for the buck.

I can only say that after a lot of deliberation we chose to stay IN Valetta and were VERY glad we did. We were going for the history and ambiance of the island and not for the beaches and tourist commotion though.
I will be in Malta in May and staying in Valletta at the British Hotel.
Also thinking about going to Gozo for a night or 2. Any suggestions on a place to stay?
We are thinking about hopping over to Sicily. Any suggestions on where to go?
I´ll second Waterfront.
www.hotelcastillemalta.com is quite
reasonable if you wish to stay in
Valetta. And the buses, while true
antiques, will take you anywhere &
locals are glad to offer help.
We where in Malta last October and although not a popular destination, I assure you it packs a lot for the size.
We also stayed half our vacation in Gozo and found it much greener and serene.
Go stay in a farmhouse there and step back in time.
I recommend looking over this lovely property in which we stayed: www.tadrattagozofarmhouse.com
