With 10 days (and all this time to research) you'll have more than enough to see and do everything--it's a tiny place.
The only things you need to know:
1. Make reservations for the Hypogeum
2. Make reservations for the better Maltese restaurants, as they book up (there was a good one in Valletta, the name escapes me. One on Gozo also.) Rabbit is specialty. Grilled fish was excellent.
www.visitmalta.com is a great resource, as is the Rough Guide to Malta.
CAn't miss dining spots:
In St. Julians:
Papparazzi, fun vibe, delicious food.
Piccolo Padre -- great views and food.
On Valetta waterfront:
Amici Miei (sp).. gorgeous setting
Best beach snacks:
Maxima in Mellieha Bay
