Malmo or Copenhagen - where to stay?
My husband and I will be flying into Copenhagen in mid-October and spending a couple of days and nights in the area before heading into Germany and beyond. Looking online, it seems as though hotels seem to be a slightly better deal in Malmo than in Copenhagen for mid-range hotels. We have purchased Eurail passes and I assume that travel between the two places would be covered by them.
It looks like the trains run fairly requently and are about 40 minutes.
Does anybody have feedback on the idea of basing in Malmo? Also, any hotel recommendations for either place (or any other town I hadn't considered) are appreciated.

A really bad idea. Malmo is a cute little town - but if yuo want to see Copenhagen you shuold stay there - versus wasting 1.5 hours a day trekking back and forth.
What is your price point for hotels? (have been to Copenhagen several times and always found them fairly reasonable - for Sandinavia.)

I agree it is not a good idea to be based in Malmo if you mainly want to see Denmark and Copenhagen. You can be based in the suburbs of Copenhagen or towns close by if you want but you'll most likely find little in savings by doing that.

Thanks for the replies. We're thinking that we'll probably be looking at somewhere around $150 per night. For something special, we'd consider going higher. Everybody's idea of special varies, of course. To give you an idea of what I consider to be special, this is what I found in Malmo for around $150/night, including breakfast, taxes, and fees: http://www.mayfairtunneln.com/en
Of course, a nice little B&B somewhere with comfy beds (my husband is 6'6") and great people can also be a very special experience.
Thanks again, for the feedback. =)

B&Bs in Denmark don't generally have private bathrooms so check descriptions to be sure. This is a good website http://www.bbdk.dk/
This website has good info on accommodation eg in badehoteller (seaside hotels) or castles/manors.
This is a cosy place in a good area of Copenhagen but dont think you can get it for $150-DK tends to be more expensive than Sweden.
