Mallorca: Off the tourist trail

I've just returned back from my second trip to beautiful Mallorca (the largest of the Spanish Balearic Islands) and wanted to share my favourite places to visit off the usual tourist trail.

Mallorca sometimes recieves a bad press, but I hope this trip report will change any negative views as I had such a fabulous time!

DD and her new DH went to Mallorca for their honeymoon recently. They enjoyed it immensely, and they are both world travelers.

Very interesting but no mention of Deìa where I spent 4 incredible weeks in 1972. So long ago Robert Graves was a major presence in the village. I'm sure it has changed, I hope not too negatively.

I visited Mallorca in the late 60's. I certainly enjoyed it, and I'd love to go back again. Maybe I will....

I took family ( son, daughter, their spouses, and my three grandchildren ) there this past June. We loved it and hope to return. Stayed just outside Soller.

We have been to Mallorca twice.. got engaged there two years ago.. and then went back this year for our anniversary.. love the island..

We stayed in Cala D'or mostly..( did a few days in Palma) but visited at least half the places listed .. love Mallorca and am so sad its so far away for us.. I would go every single year if I could. .

You make me want to go back, as I obviously missed a lot; only visiting a few ports on a yacht in the early '70's. I remember Port d' Andratx as being particularly charming. Then it had a single pier where you moored stern to at a small village. Looking at it now on Google Earth it has certainly metastasized.

Great report! We went there and spent all our time at the far northeastern end, Pollenca, and Cal San Vicenza, etc. The cliffs out there are spectacular!

I wish we'd seen your report before we went - Valldemossa looks like a cool town I really wish we'd seen. Well, maybe next time.

If anyone is interested - I wrote up several photo trip reports with some cool photos... here's one:

We spent our honeymoon on Mallorca in 1976 and re-visited last year. A lovely island!

@VGF I've not been to Pollensa yet, it looks a very pretty place though!
And so does Port d'Andratx!
