Mallorca: Hotel in/near Palma?

Any hotel recommendations for staying near Palma? I Its not that important for us to stay in the center of since we're not big city people. Maybe there are great hotels in/around the city? I saw Cap Rocat, but there is no availability for the days we need, and its also a touch pricey. Any great areas east/west of Palma?

We are already spending several days in and near Soller but wanted to base closer to Palma for the end of the stay. Thank you.

Yes, Cap Rocat is on the expensive side, but then it's a 5-star luxury botique property.

A little better idea of your budget would help.

My budget is flexible. If Cap Rocat had availability and was worth it, I would stay there.

Any areas that you could recommend? Maybe near a beach?

The best beaches are in the north or northeast, not around Palma. Will you have a car?

Yes, I will have a car. Do you think I should then just split my stay between the west (Soller and Deia) , and then the north or northeast, where you mention the beaches are?

Can you please name some beach areas?

Okay, I see Cala Agulla, Canyamel, Cala Millor.

Where on the east side would be a good town to base in so that I can make day trips? They are too far from Palma.

It doesn't take more than an hour or so to go from any one point on the island to a point furthest away, so distance isn't really that much of a factor.

The beach from Alcudia round to and beyond Puerto Pollenca is great and Puerto Pollenca itself has some excellent hotels and is a great spot to stay in and to explore the northern half of the island.

Soller is only about 20 miles from Palma, so it's perfectly easy to get to Palma and the airport in about 40 minutes.

Thanks, is there a reason no one has mentioned destinations further east such as Cala Ratjada?
What would be the differences?

The hotels near Alcudia seem too big and impersonal - anything smaller to the east of the island that one can recommend?
