Madrid Sevilla Cordoba opinions
I am going to Spain in May, and after Madrid, we are doing one night in Granada, then have 3 nights to spend in Seville. We want to do one day in Cordoba.
would it make more sense to go from Granada to Cordoba- spend one night and then take the high speed train to seville for 2 nights? or does it make more sense to take a day trip from seville?
As far as Madrid goes, we are planning on day trips to Toledo and Segovia. I was also looking at cuenca, but we only have time for 2 of the 3...
I welcome your opinions!

I think this is just personal, you have to decide for yourself what you prefer. Because logistically, it is in on the route so makes sense either way. If you travel very lightly and don't mind checking in/out of a hotel for one night, then you could do it on the way. For one night, you don't really unpack, anyway. If you find a nice hotel you like, why not. I just went there for a day trip and enjoyed it (from Seville), seeing the Mezquita and the Alcazar, the main things I wanted to see -- walked around a bit, also. But if you go for a day trip, you do have the logistics of getting to/from Santa Justa for the regional train and that trip, which takes up time, obviously, perhaps more than just checking in/out of a hotel in Cordoba.
I don't know about Seville, but many hotels in Europe I've found give you better rates for 3 night stays than 2, also, so that's something to check out, if that matters.
It is easier to make one big train trip to Seville, get a taxi to your hotel and just do a day trip by train when you are unemcumbered by luggage, though, thant having to get to/from a train station twice with luggage.

I'm not sure if this appeals to you but I went from Madrid to Seville by train, 2 nights in Seville, bus to Granada which was a lovely way to see the Spanish countryside. Loads of olive groves and rolling hills and charming small towns nestled in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada. Only 1 night in Granada, then late afternoon bus to Cordoba for 1 night, then train (preferential seat was worth it!) back to Madrid.
Worked out nicely.
Have fun
PS. Loved our small hotel in Granada, Los Titos if its still there. And had a great lunch off of Gran Via at La Castellana.

I agree that you need to make a personal choice about what to see and what to skip. I recommend that you get some good guidebooks (or spend some time with a few in your local library), identify the things you most want to see in each location, note their opening/closing times (particularly important in Spain, where many places are closed on Sunday afternoon and all day on Monday), and mark them on a calendar. Then pencil in your transportation, add some time on either side (for getting to/from your lodging, checking in/out, packing/unpacking, getting oriented, etc.). Then see how things fit together.

I would suggest doing Cordoba as a day trip from Sevilla as it eliminates one of the check-out/ check ins in hotels. You dont mention that I can see how many days total you're in Madrid, but if its your first visit there I hope you're not shortchanging it for doing daytrips to Segovia and Toledo.
