madrid nightlife
There are a group of 11 of us girls in our 30's and 40's who are going to Madrid for three nights in October can anyone recommend suitable nightlife for our age group (we dont want to feel like we are old enough to be someones mother!)Also we want to go and see flamenco and if you could recommend restaurants that would be great.

A just part of this post, the restaurants don't start serving until later than 10 pm..If you want to see any "Shows" after the meal, expect this to start very late in the evening.
Discos used to start after midnight, so any grannies who expect to being the bed by 1:00 am should take a nap first.
You're going to "Start in the Fast Line" when you try to keep up with the Spaniards.
Have fun ladies.

tenby1,
I have a section on Madrid nightlife in my (rather looong) Madrid file that you're welcome to download if you'd like.

We enjoyed the cuevas around Plaza Mayor and the bars and restaurants around Plaza de Isabel II. I don't think you will feel "old" - in general, we found the age range in bars/clubs in Spain to be much wider than what you'd typically see in the US - not all twenty-somethings. I agree with the previous poster that things don't tend to get going until rather late at night.

For flamenco, I enjoyed Casa Patas with a group ranging from 17 to 55, and everyone felt comfortable there. The show started at midnight so we could have dinner somewhere first, but there also appears to be a good restaurant right there.
