Hello all, could you please recommend a hotel near the Prado? We are looking to pay 100 euros/night but less would be good too.
We are already looking at Hotel Prado if anyone has stayed there your review would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

We stayed at the Hotel prado. I'd recommend it for you - nice rooms, good location to walk to the Prado and the
Plaza Mayor.
Hi, PM, How about the Hotel Green Lope de Vega? I stayed there several years ago, and it was just fine. Nothing special, not much charm, but clean and fine. It's across the Castellana from the Prado.
A much cheaper option is the Hostal Bruna, also very close to the Prado. It's one of those family run small places that is spotlessly clean but no frills at all. I have been there and it's also fine, but really basic. I like the owners a lot because when my son stayed there a few years ago and was pickpocketed the night before his flight, left with no money to pay his room or his metro to the airport, they gave him 10 euros, sent him on his way and told him to send the payment. Really good people, so I like to put in a good word when I can.
The Hotel Prado and Lope de Vega belong to the same group, but the Prado is marketed by Accord Hotels and is typically a good deal. We''ve stayed there on numberous occastions over the years and will be there for a couple of days in March.
€100/night for a decent 3-star property is rather difficult unless you know someone. You might want to check the 2-star Hotel Plaza Mayor (see maribelsguides.com/mg_madridhotels.pdf).
Thanks for the advice, I'll check all locations mentioned but the Prado Hotel sounds really good.
P_M I would also like to add that its really a good hotel with quality service and affordable pricing as well. I never visited it but my cousin stayed there during his honeymoon.
Consider the Hotel Regina. Centrally located, walking distance to the Prado and other major sites. We stayed in a large room with sitting area for less than 100Euro per night through a deal on their website.
We have stayed at the Persal near the Plaza Ana which is a 15 minute walk to the Prado. One SIL stayed there by herself. It is clean, safe, with a helpful staff.
Like lreynold1, the Hotel Green Lope de Vega met my needs. I remember that my room was very quiet, which was not necessarily true of other hotels in that area. And it was an easy walk from there to the train station, Retiro Park, and Plaza Ana. It's been a while since I was there, but it looks like it still gets good reviews. Enjoy!
The Persal is a simple 2-star hostel, okay if you're on a tight budget... They do offer a quad room for families, but their rates are not much better then what you will find at the 3-star El Prado, which is far more comfortable.
