Madrid hotel near Atocha Station

Looking for a reasonable priced hotel $100 or less near the Atocha Railway Station. I will be arriving late from the airport and only staying one night, leaving by train the next morning. Any recommendations?

AC Atocha (Marriott) is close, and reasonably priced.

I've stayed at the AC Atocha, and it certainly nice enough. Some of the AC hotels have glass walls between the bedroom and shower, so it's not ideal for families. There are ways around this, though.

The AC chain is now owned by Marriott, so you will earn points on your stay if you are a member of their loyalty program. Also, the AC Hotel Carlton is about two blocks from the AC Atocha, so either are good places to stay if coming in or out of Atocha Station. Just pick the cheapest.

I wonder what dollars you are using? How near is near?
Maybe look at Booking.com then use the dollars you want and filter location and other facilities you require. Reviews can only be written by guests.

"The AC chain is now owned by Marriott" Not quite! The AC chain is still owned by the family of Antonio Catalán (http://www.achotelscorporate.com/en/...formation.html) from Navarra. It was a good marketing plan for both sides, allowing AC hotels to enter the American market, while Marriott didn't have to buy any hotels in Spain. And yes, you can use or earn Marriott points at all of the AC hotels.

For a decent hotel close to Atocha, you can check out the Paseodel Arte (www.hotelpaseodelartemadrid.com/EN/hotel.html). I'm not fond of the area, but this works for some people.

Robert2533, Thanks for the correction. I thought about it after I wrote it, and realized that "affiliated with" and "owned by" are two very different things.

No problem! It's a common mistake, especially when dealing with Marriott. Far too many hotels brands!
