Madrid flamenco
Does anyone know of any flamenco shows/restaurants that are during lunch that kids can go to? I have read plenty of reviews of late night dinners or flamenco shows that begin late and tend to have drink minimums but we are wondering if there is anywhere in the city for a lunch time program that we can do with our kids almost 14 and 12.

Regardless of timing, strongly recommend Corral de la Moreria. It far exceeded our expectations of dinner theatre, where the seating is too tight and food is usually awful. It was a fabulous evening and in the center of town right near the palace. Your children's ages would be fine for the first show in the evening; there was one following ours. Our friends researched this and selected this for last Spring's trip to Spain, and we loved it. Believe there was a 3-tier menu, we picked the least expensive or middle one, and every course was better than we had hoped for. Reservations necessary, do not recall drink minimums. The performance was outstanding.

Corral de Morería is great, but I would recommend Casa Patas, also in the very heart of town. The 9pm performance would be great with your kids. My brother went with his 8 and 16 years old with a couple of friends the same age last year, and they all had a fantastic time. The nine year old girl was mesmerized.
Casa Patas has consistently been the greatest tablao not only in Madrid, but in all of Spain the past few years. If you find anything at lunch hours, it would most probably be extremely much lower quality and the experience the same. Casa Patas is nothing like a "drinking place". People who go here normally know exactly what they come for. Usually the same in Corral de la Morería, but it's also popular with bussloads of tourists.
A clip from a great night I had in Casa Patas a couple of years ago, wonderful madrileña Concha Jareño dancing:

Firework Belén López danced the night my brother and the kids were there (she often dances at Corral de la Morería also): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4hbhkIWSX-Q

kimhe-here I go again, disagreeing with you!
I can't imagine children being interested in a flamenco show-my high students wanted to leave afte 15 minutes!
I don't like the location of Casa Patas, off Atocha on the border of or in Lavapies and at night,Yikes!
Last year,I finally decided I like this one the best-it finally reopened on Plaza Santa Ana and have never heard anything but great reviews:
http://www.villa-rosa.es/
I just checked and they have aearly night show but on certain Sundays, they have, what I would consider a perfect time, 4pm in July! It's for aspiring performers!
The ouside tiled wall is just beautiful-what a photo op!
I have seen so many flamenco performances in/out of Madrid and honestly, it is hit/miss some nights great, others ??

Villa Rosa on Plaza Santa Ana is the old "cathedral of flamenco" (opened 1911) in Madrid and newly reopened after many years in decay as a flamenco place. You can be lucky and see great artists here, but it's nothing near Casa Patas when it comes to consistent quality. And the performance hall in Casa Patas also tells much, a flamenco concert scene and not a dining room as in most other tablaos.
And kids are different, all four of those going with my brother and his friends to Casa Patas were totally taken, but then of course, they experienced true flamenco art from the finest artists (Belén López and David Paniagua danced that night).
The past five years Casa Patas has staged nothing but great artists, and even artists that fill major theaters in New York, Paris, London and all over Spain perform here frequently. Here they get a chance to have an up front experience with the audience where they can test ut new material etc. Changing artist every week.
Some clips from Casa Patas the past two years:
Fuensanta La Moneta, voted best female flamenco dancer 2009 by Spanish critics: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FbO_lw2xWtU
Pastora Galván, voted best female flamenco dancer 2010 by Spanish critics: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SY6Vy9tKW3U
Olga Pericet, voted best female flamenco dancer 2011 by Spanish critics: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=55waEsaBzjM
Fantastic and cutting edge Israel Galván, he has revolutionized male flamenco dance during the past decade: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VL9Wav9v7Jc
Estrella Morente, now the world's most famous cantaora (female flamenco singer): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sejSYMSQDZo
Casa Patas is three minutes walking from supercentral Plaza Santa Ana and not dodgy at all by any reasonable standards before perhaps long into the night, 60 meters off very busy Calle Atocha.

Agree with Kimhe Casa Patas is a better choice, better value and you won't have food being served as you watch. As far as kids not liking flamenco, it would help if they had some introduction to the artform prior to the visit. They might be more engaged when they think they know something about it. So many kids today only know their own kind of music. I loved flamenco since I was a child so I am biased though.

Also, may take some doing because this ad is in Spanish, but I hear Casa Patas has a foundation and they offer sometimes children's classes in English. I would suggest cajon (the box used to accompany flamenco nowadays)
http://www.danza.es/actualidad/curso...-en-casa-patas
It says clases para niños en ingles. I would check it out.
