We are planning a trip to Madrid and Barcelona at the end of August early September. Looking for some advice. I have read some of the reviews on train versus plane from Madrid to Barcelona and was wondering if transporting 40+lb bags makes the train more difficult? Otherwise it sounds like the train if we can find discounted fares makes sense. Also, when we were in Rome last year we took a couple of 1/2 day tours with wonderful Presto tour guides. Is there an equivalent company in Spain? We were able to get into all kinds of places very easily and the guides were wonderful. And, last year we also found that all the restaurants our friends had suggested were closed in August, do you have any restaurant suggestions, not too expensive, in Madrid, that might be open in August? We'll be in Barcelona in September.
