We will be going to Spain from Washington DC in mid-October (weekday arrival at 7:30 am) and I want to make hotel reservations very soon.
We are thinking of going directly to Segovia when we arrive in Spain and saving Madrid
for the end of the two week trip. We would spend two nights in Segovia.
I have read that the La Sepulvedana bus leaves every 30 minutes from Madrid's Principe Pio station for Segovia during the a.m. How easy is this station to reach from the international airport. Would we be able to take a subway there from the airport or would we have to take a taxi? Are the La Sepulveda busses easy to use with suitcases? We will each have a small suitcas and one backpack between us. We are in our mid-sixties and will have travelled all night on the plane.
Is there any direct transportation from the international airport to Segovia? I know about the trains from Madrid. We do not drive.
Thank you
Pat

Principe Pio is easy to reach, take L8 to Nuevos Ministerios, there change to L10 heading to Principe Pio.
There are scalators and elevators in NM and it's a short distance between platforms.
There are scalators at Ppe Pio, follow the indications to the bus terminal (underground).
According to Madrid website, La Sepulvedana is located on the level -1.

As far as i know there is no direct transport to Segovia from Barajas airport.
Thank you Victor. We should be able to follow your directions to Principe Pio.
Do you know if we will be able to easily carry our bags on the bus to Segovia? Are there racks or other places to store luggage during the trip?
Pat
You are smart to travel light. Wish we had done the same!
Anyway, we took bus from Madrid to Segovia about 2 weeks ago as a daytrip. The bus station is easy to find. We left our hotel on Gran Via about 7:08 am, took metro and were on bus at 7:30 including buying tickets. You will buy an open round trip ticket for the way back (meaning no set time of departure). Just show up a little earlier in Segovia and pay attention to which platform the bus leaves from. The bus was comfortable, no problem. I did not pay attention to storage inside bus, there is plenty of storage underneath.
Be extra alert (if that is possible after an overnight flight) when getting on metro at the airport, I would definitely recomend putting your passports and cash/credit cards in travel belt/pouch . We were almost pickpocketed twice, once going to metro from the airport using the moving belts and againg getting on metro at Plaza Espana going home. It is hard not to look like tourist with your luggage. Otherwise we had no problems in Madrid and took metro few other times and had a great time otherwise. Would love to go back in a heartbeat.
