Lyon airport hotel or downtown + taxi

We booked an open jaw ticket to Paris, returning out of Lyon. Our original idea had been to spend 2 nights in Lyon at the end of the trip. Now, we've decided to spend more time in Provence and take the TGV from Avignon to Lyon. We can take the TGV directly to the airport, but can't find an airport hotel that looks very appealing. We could take the train to the heart of Lyon and spend the night, recommendations appreciated) and take a taxi to the airport. Anyone have personal experience on the cost of a taxi from the city center to the airport?

50 to 55 euro daytime, 65 to 70 at night. I take the Rhone express tram from Part Dieu.

I thought the NH Lyon Airport hotel was fine and very convenient. Actually had an edible dinner buffet, too. But you certainly don't need a taxi to get to/from downtown, and you'll eat better there, too.

Thanks everyone. I hadn't heard of the Rhonexpress, thanks. Also, we just booked the NH-Hotel at the airport. It looks like it will do nicely for our purpose. Thanks again for all the replies.

I just spent a night there in July after a train from CDG, and stayed at the Mercure Part Dieu. I really liked it and it's right across the street from the Rhonexpress station.
