Hi,
i am looking for help with luxury weekend getaway from london. We would leave London early fri am and return sunday evening.

We could do paris on high speed train but that feels overwhelming unless someone could help with trip.

Could do anywhere. It will early october.

We have been to Cotswolds but that is it!!!

any suggestions for place to go and luxury accommodations for 2 nights. Things to explore and see would be essential!!!

How about Thermae Spa Hotel in Bath. I'm not in the luxury league but it's always sounded fun to me. Close to London, natural thermal pools and massages without large Hungarian women doing the honors, A pretty small city as setting. Sounds wonderful to me.

Not quite sure why you find overwhelming about Paris or the Eurostar. Could not be easier. Get on the train at St Pancras, get off at Gare du Nord, catch a taxi to your hotel. A hecka lot easier than most options.

But -- what is your budget?

Nothing wrong whatever with the "large Hungarian" part, but I prefer large English speaking women for massage purposes. I was thinking of spas in Budapest. Being of Hungarian descent (in part) myself, I loved my large Hungarian grandmother who spoke English. My Hungarian g. grandmother, on the other hand, spoke no English and we weren't close. I guess that about covers it.

Somethings don't add up. Things can get overwhelming if one is interested in DIY to manage expenses.

The OP is asking about a "luxury getaway."

I am not sure what is the definition of "luxury." If this means staying at places like Gerge V, Le Meurice, or Plaza Athenee type in Paris, there should be no shortage of travel agents who would love to hand hold OP through everything to book one of these type of hotels, book Business Premier seats on Eurostar, and arrange door to door VIP private luxury tours of Paris.

It all depends on what you want to do. There's no shortage of luxury hotels with spa in the UK; do you just want to relax? Play golf? Visit museums? Do you have a car, or will you travel by train/plane?

If you've not been to York, the Cedar Court Grand is pretty good, with a spa and the town to explore. If you have a car, Chewton Glen in Hampshire is fabulous. Or even closer, Le Manoir au Quat'Saison, near Oxford. You want a car for this one too.
Or you could fly from City Airport to Antwerp - very easy short flight, you'll be in the town center in 30 minutes after landing. Have a look at the lovely hotel 't Sant - great location and beautiful small hotel. If you want to go all out, book dinner at 't Zilte, on top of the MAS museum.

York would be my choice too. Less than two hours by train from Kings Cross - first class tickets available!
I'd personally opt to stay at the Hotel du vin although there are many lovely options in the city.

Many very good restaurants too but at some point over the weekend I'd make sure I had a champagne afternoon tea at Bettys. This can be booked in advance on a Friday, Saturday or Sunday at the Belmont Room in York so you wouldn't have to queue.

Ok so I am thinking Paris. I looked into train and it does seem easy. So when you speak luxury in Paris some hotels are 2000 us a night. That is not my budget. 500-700 would be ok.
where to stay in Paris? any great hotel suggestions ..

Can you get luxury at $US 600 a night, I doubt it. Where will the butler be staying for goodness sake?

Look on Tripadvisor for hotels - there will be a ton of reviews and non professional photos that should help you sort which fit the bill. Booking.com to actually book imho.

RM67 - we can all look on Tripadvisor and booking.com. I think Juliajane is looking for recommendations from people here who have actually stayed in hotels in Paris recently.

Juliajane; I don't really know the exhange rate at the moment, it is easier to state a budget in euros, when booking in Paris.

Hotel Costes, Faubourg St Honore is 600 euro/night for a standard. Nice hotel for a romantic weekend.

The OP has given us not the slightest indication of her taste (small, boutiquey, large, corporate), what area she might like to be in, what sort of ambience or facilities, so its pretty difficult to recommend anything. Hence Trip advisor/booking.com with her budget limit entered will give her a list she can work through because at the moment only she know's what she's looking for!
