Luggage storage in Vienna
Hello,
We arrive at VIE at 12:30pm in the afternoon but may not check into our apartment until 4:30pm. I am planning on taking the CAT to the Wien-Mitte station, then the U3 subway train to Stephansplatz. Our apartment is a short walk down Singerstrasse from the Stephansplatz station. As it appears likely that we will have at least 2 hours between arrival at Stephansplatz and check-in, we are hoping to deposit our luggage somewhere and visit the cathedral.
I've been searching online and the closest luggage storage facility I have come across is the Westbahnhof. Is there any luggage storage available at Stephansplatz or Wien-Mitte?
Many Thanks for any and all suggestions!

If you are staying in the Philips apartment (or any other for that matter) - just ask them if you can check in early...I've checked in very early and checked out very late...they are really nice accomodating people.

You can try emailing the tourist office and see if they have any suggestions:

Hope you'll write a trip report when you come back!

Hi Lawchick,
We are staying in the Phillips apartment. We had originally set up for them to send a car to collect us at the airport and take us straight to the apartment, but I received an email from them this morning stating that they couldn't pick us up until 4:30pm. They provided instructions for the CAT and U3 which I was already aware of, but said that the apartment would not be available until 4:30pm even if we take alternate transportation to the city. They said the change is due to unforseen circumstances and apologized for any inconvenience.
We will have been travling for 30 hours by the time we reach Vienna airport so I'm not too pleased by the turn of events... but it is what it is, I suppose. In any case, I'm thinking we will have about 2-2.5 hours to burn between our arrival in central Vienna via U3 and the time we can check into the apartment. I'd like to drop the luggage (we will be in Austria for 3.5 weeks) somewhere convenient and look around Stephansdom during that time.
Since you have stayed in the apartment, do you remember if it came stocked with any basic groceries like coffee and bread?

Frommers seems to indicate that there are a few luggage lockers at Wien-Mitte. If so, that would be fairly convenient as we go through there anyway if we take the CAT, plus I believe Wien-Mitte is a short subway trip to/from Stephensplatz so it wouldn't be terribly inconvenient to backtrack to fetch the bags.
