luggage on water taxi

How does luggage work on the water taxis in Venice? DH and I will each have a 25' piece and back pack......It has been 20+ yrs since we were in Venice and have no recollection of how we got from airport to hotel with luggage....

Choices:
Water taxi - costa about 110 euro.
Shared water taxi - costs about 25 euro per person, book on-line.

Luggage is not a problem. We had a couple of big bags on a shared water taxi.

Or take the Alilaguna water bus. Costs about 15 euro per person, but may not go to a stop close to your hotel. Where are you staying?

We took reserved water taxis from the airport and to the train station. No problem with luggage which the driver placed in a space up front near the exit.
I cannot envision any scenario where the taxi would be so crowded that you would have any problem. They are after all quite expensive so that limits the number of travelers who want to use them.

If you mean water taxi the driver of the boat will deal with your luggage for you on and off the boat (for a tip) and presumably someone from your hotel will be on the spot to take your luggage from there (but you would have to prearrange that).

If you don't mean water taxi - but vaporetto, the water bus - then you deal with your own luggage. There is a charge for larger bags but I don't know if they actually collect it - since with luggage we do only the water taxis.

The key to either one is to find the dock (taxi) or stop (vaporetto) closest to your hotel (or determine if your hotel has a private dock for taxis - we only do this type of hotel).

It all depends on how much you are willing to pay for the convenience of not hauling your luggage on and off a crowded water bus.

Thank you for posing this question, Shar. And thanks to all who replied. We will also want a "private" water taxi from the airport to our Venice hotel (which has a "water door"). We will each have a large suitcase and a smaller carry on bag.

How much of a tip do you suggest for handling the luggage?
