Lucerne or Lugano

I need a suggestion or feedback on something. My husband and I are planning on visiting Lake Como and Venice and are wanting to travel into Switzerland as well. Is it better for us to fly into Zurich and spend two nights in Lucerne and then make our way via train to Lake Como and then on to Venice? Or should fly into Milan and spend four nights in Lake Como and make a day trip via the train to Lugano? We are booking for 10 or 11 days, including travel days.

We are interested in walking around shopping and having lunch and taking in the scenery and atmosphere. Any feedback is appreciated.

Lugano would be an easier fit for your itinerary and though Lugano and its lake are nice Lucerne IMO is exceptional - one of the most physically beautiful cities in Europe on Switzerland's most beautiful lake IMO - one day taking boats around Lake Lucerne is special - lots of neat things to get off at and - taking the train or cableway up to Mt Rigi, one of Switzerland's most celebrated Alpine vistas - giving you a lateral view of the rocky bony spine of Switzerland and all the famous peaks or up Lucerne's own mountain Pilatus - by thrilling mountain train or cableway.

Lugano and Lake Lugano are really nice Lucerne and Lake Lucerne IMO are even nicer.

I agree.
Luzern is a top destination worthy of 2 days---Lugano is a day trip from Como and while nice is not spectacular.
