Loud Minarets in Istanbul

Jump to last reply

I am wanting to visit Istanbul in the Spring. I have heard that the 4-6 times a day loudspeaker broadcasts from the minarets can drive a person crazy. Especially the early morning ones and afternoon ones when travelers might try to take a nap.

Please tell me if the minaret problem occurs throughout Istanbul, or just in certain areas or what. Where might I stay to avoid the loud speakers from minarets all together?

And please don't tell me just to ignore the minarets and enjoy my trip. Being woken early in morning can ruin a persons entire day.

Thanks,

Ted
