In my never ending series of reports about life in the countryside near Paris I bring you my next installation documenting yet another unexplored territory completely off the tourist radar and deserving of attention. Pretty landscapes, gothic churches, medieval castle ruins, quaint villages, important WWI battlesites, champagne tasting and how anarchy leads to nudity. It's all in here. http://tinyurl.com/cq9nf5x

Oh goodie, this is just what I need during a break from work. Isn't it nice when you feel your hard work has been rewarded?
I'm calling my husband over to the computer. Now, let's find out where FMT went.
Lovely pictures - looks like it was a beautiful spring day for exploring. I had to laugh at the forsythia shaped into a heart that you discovered! And I'd say it sounds more like nudity actually led to anarchy!
The French do do some terrible things to trees.
Yet another spectacular report about the villages not far from Paris! Thank you, FMT.
However, I agree with bilboburglar that sometimes the pruning techniques used in France are close to criminal.
What kind of trees are those anyway?
Marking to enjoy later. Desert for my day.
Great yarn, FMT. I'd really like to get back to France - right now!
Beautifully done. Thank you FMT! Who could have guessed that naked veganism wouldn't catch on?
Thanks for your compliments everyone. Having a naked vegan commune solves most of the problems about what to eat and what to wear when one visits France.
FMT - any chance you could provide translations for the french signs in the pictures? It would make for an easier read. Merce.
FMT, thanks for the great bike ride!
Loved the little towns but was so glad to reach signs and signs of civilization! Cute heart-shaped forsythia.
MaineGG, hub and I asked the same question over the years and got 3 answers: lime (not fruit), linden, and plane. Can anyone clarify?
Lime would make sense as they produce large amounts of sap that falls on cars etc, cutting them back would save on car cleaning
Thanks, FMT. It's remarkable how much old stuff survived the conflict in such places. It's an area that I have neglected, but I might make up for that neglect.
Revives memories of our stay in Burgundy. Beautiful photography FMT!
cold - I think the people making all those French signs are the same people who refuse to translate French maps into English.

waterdog - Any time.
TDudette and bilbo - I have no idea what kinds of trees those area and neither does my Mrs. They do fill in over the course of the summer, though.
Padraig - I never cease to be amazed by how much "old stuff" I find, even in the tiniest villages, that managed to make it through so much conflict.
MarySteve - Thank you.
The big question: where to next?
Yes, FMT, don't stay home. Those of us who aren't in France need you to travel for us until we can get back.
I have a feeling next on my destination list will be more of the area near where I covered on this trip report. I uncovered a lot of info about great places to see here that are completely off the tourist radar and I know there's even more beautiful scenery than what I did on this ride. Stay tuned for more.
