Looking for name of hotel near Giverny
Hi all,
Several years ago my husband and I stayed at a hotel outside of Paris, on the way to Giverny, and I don't remember where it was or what it was called. It was outside a town, the name of which I also cannot recall, but the distinguishing feature, which may help someone identify it, was that it was on the banks of the Seine. You had to cross underneath a railway line to get to it, and then drive a little way along the river. The railway line was close to the river at that point, and the hotel was sandwiched between the river and the railway line. There was also a boatramp near the hotel. The restaurant was fantastic, the rooms a little downtrodden. Any suggestions?

I think the department is Yvelines; here's a link for a listing of some hotels in the department:
www.france-voyage.com/en/
You'll need to first select Ile-de-France, then Yvelines.
What I came across in a casual search was:
www.hotel-saintpierre.com/
if it isn't what you're looking for, it's still a lovely place.
Happy hunting!

I like a detective story. A bit of hunting around at mappy.com and pagesjaunes.fr produces these places around Vernon which might just fit the bill:

This place is also near the river, but it's between Giverny and Rouen, rather than on the Paris side:

If Detective London didn't hit the spot, another trick you can try is to simply do a google search for "hotel Giverny France".
Google will give you a clickable map full of markers that pinpoint most hotels in the area. Plus, the map is of sufficient detail you can see the train station, etc.

Thank you very much for all your help. I would not have known how to find the answer. I am in a different time zone to most of the posters here so it does take a little longer for me to answer. I will plough through all those links / suggestions and see if I can find the hotel. Will let you all know when I do.

OK, still searching - unfortunately none of the links turned it up. I will keep on it and will post again if I can find it ... many thanks for all of your answers. I had already been looking for a while but have not seen any of these links before. How frustrating not to have found it yet!

@ Elaine,
I just saw your response after posting ... checked it out and it's beautiful, but that's not it. In fact, all these places look beautiful. Wouldn't it be great to do a Seine crawl? Sigh, will keep looking!

Bookend to a seven-year-old post ... we were going through old paperwork and maps and found our travel documents from that trip. The hotel was a Logis de France hotel called Les Cannisses at Le Goulet, near to Vernon / Giverny. Sure enough, you drive along the railway line and pass underneath it, to drive along the Seine. It is tucked between the railway line and the Seine upstream from Paris.
Our main reason for wanting to remember (apart from the idyllic setting) is that my husband walked down a boat ramp to get a better picture of the river, slipped and fell in! Fortunately he was not hurt and will always be able to tell people he went into the Seine. Camera was OK, mobile phone not so much ...
Many thanks to all of you who responded, especially PatrickLondon, if you are reading this, the help was appreciated.
