Looking for cheap hotel in london
So I will be in London from the 2/09 to 8/09 to attend a course at the Lime Grove Art College in Kensington. Since I am still a student I am looking for a cheap hotel, but I don't plan to sleep with 10 or more other people in one room. Any suggestions?

London is one of the more expensive hotel cities.
That said, try http://www.venere.com/uk/london/
You can sort by price, location and lodging type. Always check the reviews Venere has posted from folks who've stayed there.

Doesn't the college's housing department help short-term students?
How many people are you willing to sleep with? There's a St Christopher's Hostel in Shepherds Bush, with double rooms and 4, 6 and 8 person dorms.

Hotels in London are expensive and cheap ones are generally awful. Since you will be there in August, you can see about a short stay at one of the University of London's residence
halls rather than a hotel. You can look closer to where your course is and see if other college's have residence halls available for visitors too
sorry i cant get the link as a link but try the website:

Depending on the definition of cheap, London is one place where Priceline really works. Check TheBiddingTraveler.com to see what people are getting in the right neighborhood and price range. Good luck.

university accomodation, while not cheap, at least a lot better in price than London hotels, but pricier than a hostel like "The Generator" near the British Museum. The London Scool of Economics has housing available to you, some in the center of London. I have stayed in their Holborn residence, and your stay includes breakfast, is really near the theatre district, the City, and the Holborn tube station. This residence has kitchens on each floor with pots, pans, china, showers and toilets down the hall, and is pretty quiet. Security is good. They have other locations with different features, including one near Trafalgar Square. Go for it.

See http://www.lsevacations.co.uk/ for the LSE residences.
Failing that, try the Gower St B&Bs - e.g. http://www.ridgemounthotel.co.uk/

Another thing to think about when finding a room is your transportation . Look at a London tube map and note the lines that reach Shepherd,s Bush tube station. You,ll be much better off staying close to one of those lines. Buses are quite slow during any time of day, so you,d be better off using the Tube.
Also, you could find a private room at airbnb, and get close to your school. That would be much cheaper. Check out the reviews carefully though.

I checked airbnb.com, and there are several rooms for rent at your visit time, some of them would allow you to cook meals, too. Search airbnb for shepherds bush, london are and you will see what I eman. The owners of the rooms are also a good information source, too, for all sorts of questions when you stay.
