Looking for an addition to Lucerne - preferably French speaking (Vevey?)

Jump to last reply

We (husband and I) are planning a trip to Lake Como in July, and planning to add 6 days or so in Switzerland. We are planning 3-4 nights in Lucerne, mostly to take cycling day trips. Would like to add on 2-3 nights for a different experience - preferably in the French speaking area (we both speak French and it is fun to practice).

We will mostly be cycling in Lucerne. The second destination we might like to cycle some, but also eat, relax, and have a little fun. The Montreaux jazz festival will be in full force during our time there so I was thinking about Vevey.

I really can't seem to find the. perfect little hotel (charming, good food, good service, good views - not overly elegant). I would prefer to rent an apartment so that we don't have to eat out for 2 weeks but having trouble finding one.

Currently we are planning to fly in to Zurich and out of Milan.

Unfortunately (for logisticsl) we need to be in Lucerne for the second leg because we are hoping to catch some of the Blue Balls music festival.

Any thoughts on a second destination and possibly hotels there?

thanks!
Kristie
