I am planning a trip mid May 15-29th with my grown son and our itinerary will include Paris, Wemmis, Switzerland (by Bern.. his Great Grandfather was raised there) then Florence, Italy. Any ideas on best avenues of route, transportation or other places we shouldn’t miss? I’m finding that Florence is not an affordable or easy city to fly out of to USA… any thoughts on options? maybe Rome?
Looking for advice on 2 wk trip: Paris, Bern and Florence

I'm not sure I can help, except to say (a) it should be a wonderful trip and (b) you might want to ask the editors to add tags for France and Italy - you might get more comments that way.
Regarding flying out of Florence, you could consider flying out of Pisa. The Pisa airport is on the train route and there are frequent trains (3 trains between 7 am and 8:28 am on Jan. 31) between Florence and Pisa. The train trip is either 1 hr. (without a change in the central Pisa station) or 1 hr. 15 minutes, with a change in the central Pisa station.
Thank you soo much on both points, my first time in forum and I should have added the additional tags. Great idea about flying from Pisa ... thanks!
