Looking for a good not-too-pricey restaurant in Copenhagen.
Lots of talk regarding the price of eating out in Copenhagen. Will be taking a small group out for good food at reasonable prices later this month. Suggestions would be helpful. Thanks.
Criteria, in order:
1- Good food (not Mexican, thai, or fish)
2- Good value for the money
3- Pleasant atmosphere
4- Reasonable service

What specifically do you want to pay for this meal - and is this just the main course or does it include a complete dinner with wine? (Reasonable fo Copenhagen or reasonable for some other measure?)
Easy to avoid Mexican and Thai but Copenhagen has lots of fish - although of course you can avoid it if necessary.

NYTraveler, yes, it is for a complete meal with wine.
"Good value for the money" means relative to other restaurants in Copenhagen. Not a rip-off, or a tourist-trap. Where locals would go.

Again - that depends on what YOU want.
If you just mean cheaper than most - then likely you will get simpler food, fewer courses and much more basic wine.
Can't help with specifics - since for lunch we just find something where we are that looks nice - but for dinner we look for someplace special most nights. We think these places are worth the money - but you well might not.

Maybe someone local with a better understanding of "value for money"
can give us some suggestions? For instance, we had singled out Café Tight mentioned by JUESnyc; his post confirms that we are on the right track.(Thanks,JUESnyc) This restaurant is also recommended in guidebooks as a judicious choice: "good value for the money".. We checked out Nose2Tail, also a great suggestion. Right up our alley. So we're all set for 2 dinners, need 2 more!

A place where locals would go is in fact in the Tivoli Gardens, called Grøften. It is a very old, traditional Danish restaurant, where Danish specialities are served which is why it is popular with locals. I would not say it is cheap, but in comparison to other restaurants it is not badly priced and is a special place to eat.
Brasserie Degas is also a favourite of mine, cooking is great and price is very reasonable.
Restaurant Radio offers good priced Nordic cuisine, in the style of Noma but without the price tag.

We really enjoyed our dinner at Tight; in fact we have eaten there twice on 2 different stays! Reasonable [Copenhagen reasonable] prices and good food and service.

Wine may be a problem. What we saw at restaurants were all imports, and seemed to heavily taxed. While beers were not bargain either, I only drank local beers since I was heading to France next and in no hurry to drink French or Spanish wines in Denmark. At least the beers were something local. Pity, the fish dishes were all excellent in Denmark if not cheap.

Wine is never a problem in Copenhagen. A bottle of wine costs the same in Copenhagen as it does in a London restaurant, in fact it might even be slightly cheaper in Copenhagen. We regularly buy wine in Denmark, both from supermarkets and whilst dining in restaurants. Wine is imported, Denmark is not a wine producer.
