London, Vienna, Prague Trip Report -- Part 7 Cesky Krumlov and Prague

London, Vienna, Prague Trip Report -- Part 7 Cesky Krumlov and Prague
Not getting much love here, so gonna finish up, in short form 
. Thank goodness, you say.
Cesky Krumlov:
Transport: CK Shuttle Vienna to Cesky Krumlov , got picked up at hotel , dropped at tourist center , left bags at tourist center, 25 Kronas per bag.
Spent about 8 hours in CK, took 'free' 2 hr walking tour from town square. Was good, took us to all the nice vantage points that I wouldn't have found on my own.
Lunched at riverside cafe. Had a plate of chicken breast and a plate of sausages and fries and 2 Pilsners.
Transport: Student Agency bus to Prague, best way to go, comfortable and cheap.
Prague:
Hotel Julian, I got a promo code off Tripadvisor and booked 4 nights in the nicest room in the hotel with a huge comfortable bed. The hotel was very nice, beautiful lobby, great staff, breakfast buffet included. Could walk to Charles Bridge in about 15 minutes. We took the tram, around the corner from the hotel, every day.
Restaurants:
Lokal - food was good, fresh beer from tanks, and very reasonably priced, recommended by Rick Steves guide. My wife, however, didn't like the ambience, it looked a little like a large school lunchroom. Had the cabbage soup, goulash and mixed sausages and beers, of course.
Malostranska Pivnice - nice outdoor eating area, near to Kafka museum, nice crowd, good waiter. Had the Pigs Knuckle (Knee) on a spit, Weiner Schnitzel, Red cabbage, Fries, beers.
Grand Orient Cafe - nice old style cafe, strudel and cake, salads with duck breast, latte
Entertainment:
Saw the Czeck Opera 'Jenufa', at the National Theater, a stirring performance, had good seats this time, a box in the balcony. Beautiful old classic theater.

Prague Castle
St Vitus (St Johns 1.5 ton silver tomb)
Golden Lane
Charles Bridge (gravitated back there numerous times)
Old Town Square (fabulous architecture, Lady of Tyn, Astrological Clock)
Basilica of St. George (St Ludmilla tomb, Vratislava tomb)
Malostranska
St Nickalaus Church (beautiful baroque)
Wallenstein Gardens
Jewish Quarter (Old New Synagogue the oldest operating synagogue in Europe, Holocaust Memorial, Jewish Cemetery, Jewish Museum)
Powder tower (went up to top for great view and picture taking)
Boat ride (good vantage point for pics of wife in front of Charles Bridge, there were only 2 other people on the big boat.)

Governator, thanks so much for your helpful information! We've caught up with all the segments of your report. We're in the beginning stages of planning a trip to Central Europe, and are bookmarking your report. We appreciate all the ideas you shared!

Governator, we love Prague, and have even gone up just for a long day trip to enjoy a local festival. Hope you enjoyed the city, too. I just spent the last weekend in Prague shopping, and have to add that Prague becomes lovelier with each visit.

You're fortunate to be so close to Prague. If I drive 3 1/2 hours North, I'd be in Albany
We enjoyed the entire trip. London, Vienna and Prague are everything people say, and more. I hope I get to return to all 3 cities, someday, to enjoy at a more leisurely pace.

Guv....seems like you did not miss a trick. You did the geography in some depth considering the time constraints. You'll be back for more. Thanks for sharing. That's what this forum is all about.
