London: Travel Alert for Kings Cross Station!

Please take precautions if departing Kings Cross station. Police are reporting that melees have erupted after miscreants placed whole and partial bagels on passengers' heads.

"Police were called to break up a fight on a train as rowdy passengers repeatedly placed bagels on other travellers’ heads. Officers arrived at Potters Bar station in Hertfordshire just after 1am on Sunday after being alerted to passengers fighting and intimidating others. The 12.54am Great Northern service from King’s Cross to Huntingdon was held for 18 minutes while the officers took statements."

You sure this isn't April 1st? I notice it's not on the main page of the UK version of the site.

Bagels??? I'm terrified! I don't want a partial one, though - what's the point?

If you've been out on the lash in London all evening, and are having to come back down to reality (or at least Potters Bar), then bagel-related shenanigans are the least one might expect.

In the old New Yorker this story would come under the heading, "There will always be an England."

This is what happens when you let food religious origins into a country without extreme vetting.

All a matter of taste, I know, but eating a bagel would not, for me, be that different from eating my hat, anyway.

I'd imagine the last train to Potters Bar has on occasion seen something of the sort.
