London to Land's End?

I will be traveling from London up to Land's End and was wondering whether there were any must-sees along the way? Also are there any resorts or fabulous hotels worth staying at? Thoughts on wonderful things to do and see in London? I've been several times before, but it's been a few years now.
Thanks!

I loved hiking through the moors -- an experience I haven't been able to match anywhere else in the world. As far as actual sites to be visited, I thought Dartmouth was beautiful and LOVED the feel of Tintagel. Are you going by car? Bus? Train?

As for London, there's just too much to even begin listing -- try a search and see what you get.

Hey Eri

I was just down near Land's End last weekend - you don't want to go anywhere near it, it's a tacky expensive fairground kinda thing now . . . the nearby Sennen Cove is wonderful though, we had a great pint at the Old Success:

http://www.oldsuccess.com

Also, don't miss the Minack and Porthcurno (if it's a hot day):

http://www.minack.com/

HTH, have a fun trip!

I'd agree, avoid Land's End!
Sadly, the National Trust tried to buy it but a nasty businessman outbid them. It's extremely tatty. There are lots of beautiful unspoiled parts of Cornwall which are worth a visit.

I'm afraid I have to vote with the rest, Land's end is a perfect example of what Man can do to destroy Nature. I could have posted this under the Biggiest disappointment posting just as well. I'd opt for the dorset- devon coastline, northern cornwall . Tintagel and corfe castle are worth going out of the way for. There are many estates and gardens open for viewing in tis area.
One of our favorite country house hotels, Plumber Manor, with a super resaturant makes a good base for doing Dorset and devon. It is still owned by the Prideaux -Brune family , who are associated with several other houses that are open to view, Althelhamptom House and Prideaux Place.

It sound touristy but I loved the London Eye and it seems so does everyone else who has been. Advance tickets can be booked thru the British Airway site. Go to somerset House , if it has been several years since you've been to London, the Courtauld and Gilbert Collections there are wonderful.

Hello

I totally agree with the other posts and say that Lands End has become tacky!!

When we stayed in Cornwall we opted for the other point - The Lizard is England's most southerly point - It's just as beautiful..

For other places to visit along the way.. I would direct you to a travel site.. Now, I'm NOT promoting them, but what I liked about the site, was that you could steal their itinerary.

They are England's mystical sites!

If I had friends and relatives coming to England, and they were going to be in that neck of the woods, I would suggest many of the sites that this company has covered!!

http://www.mysticalvacations.com/

I agree, Land's End may be tacky, but they can't take away one thing. You can still stand on the cliffs, look west over the Atlantic, and remember the dreams of those who crossed the sea in hopes of a better life.

We were in Cornwall in early June. Lands End is tacky, it's true, but is still worth seeing. You can stand with your back to the tackiness and look out across the sea. We stayed at the Garrick Hotel in St Ives, very lovely with views of the sea. The restaurant there is also very good. St Ives is a charming seaside town. Tate Gallery and Barbara Hepworth Gallery--great for art lovers.
