Easy Jet to Italy and then a ferry to where in Croatia? Or direct flight to Croatia and public transit or rent a car after staying in DubrovnicK for a few days? Mid June. 80 -90 euros small hotels. Am I too vague?

You can fly directly into many Croatian places, such as Dubrovnik and Split, have a look at -

You could also check the individual Croatian airport websites to see who flies there.
We flew into Trieste in Italy once and had a holiday seeing Piran in Slovenia, then Rovinj and Opatija in Croatia. You could fly into one airport and out of another, as it's quite a long way from Dubrovnik up to the north of Croatia.
They have rooms for rent in Croatia, called sobe. Similar I think to pensiones in Italy. Once you've decided on town or villages to stay in, check online (TripAdvisor is a start) to see what is available.
