London theatre question

If someone plans a trip to London and wants to see some specific shows, how do they determine if the cast they would like to see will still be performing during their visit? Do any websites post how long a lead is signed or committed to a certain play? I don't travel abroad last minute so this would be important to me in planning.

Thanks.

Thanks Avalon2. I guess if I were really serious, I could phone the box office to confirm. They're selling tickets into November 2013.

Often the name star is announced w/ a specific time in the role. So you can google back press releases about the show.

But otherwise they often don't announce cast changes til just a few weeks ahead. They don't want to depress ticket sales.

Even if the star is scheduled to perform, understudys need only be announced just prior to the performance. Thus this is a tough one... make sure you really want to see the show, not just the star.

Good point. That is always a risk. You can exchange tickets when the star is out, but if you don't live locally, it's unlikely to work out.
