London Paddinton Station good?
We are headed to Paddington Station after arriving Heathrow.
Plan a Red bus or big bus tour of London I believe we can get nearby???
Selected Paddington as central to bus tour and train to Moreton in Marsh.
Any suggestions on Paddington hotels mid price???
Cheers and thanks!

Most will save not the nicest place to say in London - of safe and all but rather blah and not a great location either - but for utilitarian reasons fine - there are several hotels in the immediate vicinity of the station. Bus tours stop everywhere in London - hop on hop off.
I'd do the London Eye Ferris Wheel one of the first things too to get oriented to London - a bird's eye view of London if you have it.

OK - yes the bus to more ton in Marsh leaves from Paddington. But that really isn't a good reason to stay there. How many days will you be in London? It would be a shame to pick an area simply because of a train ride.
What is your budget? There are many better located areas w/ just as many budget hotels. Plus, getting to Paddington from LHR takes either an expensive train or a convoluted Underground trip.
Paddington really isn't at all 'central'.

The Heathrow Express need not be expensive - there are always 2 for 1 tickets on the official site it seems - a Duo Saver can give two people return tickets to be sued anytime for about 10 pounds each ride - and for that price if going to Paddington the HEX is IMO your best option.
If going elsewhere then perhaps not.
HEX trains are made for folks with lots of luggage - easy to board with airport luggage trolleys, etc.

Oops - I meant the train to moreton in marsh.
And even with a discounted ticket the HEX can be more expensive than a car service plus there is the schlepp factor at each end. And if schlepping luggage isn't an issue, it is MUCH more expensive that the tube . . .

HEX takes 20 mins to Paddington from airport so if staying by Paddington Station HEX with discounts is a no brainer - but car service makes sense for other locations - problem with car service is that London's notorious traffic jams could mean a long time getting in.

HEX trains are made for folks with lots of luggage - easy to board with airport luggage trolleys, etc.
...who are going to Paddington, everyone else will have to take some other form of transport to get to their final destination.
If "lots of luggage" is the main concern then use a car service and get door to door service for a cost lower than that of the HEX plus other transport.
Most people would find somewhere nice and convenient to some of the sights they want to see and find a hotel there, then take the Tube between airport & the hotel

Alan's correct, and Paddington does NOT fit the description of "somewhere nice and convenient" for tourists who are sightseeing in London.

We enjoyed our stay at the Mercure Paddington for 4 nights at the end of Sept. 2014, and really liked both the location and the hotel (so much so, that's where my husband wants to stay when we return). There are other hotels in the area, but I will say that the Mercure was less than 1/2 block from Paddington Station, so both the Heathrow Express, the tube, and lots of buses were super convenient.
As to other reasons we liked the location: we walked to Hyde Park, it was a quick bus ride to Notting Hill, there were plenty of restaurants, including fast food places and take out within blocks (and it seems to me that you end up taking the tube or a bus lots to see everything you're interested in while in London anyway). Plus, we always felt safe (there were plenty of folks out and about even at night).
With regard to Heathrow Express: even with carry-on only, to me it's SO much more pleasant than the tube, or dealing with a private car service. Just another opinion while you're making your decision. You can't help but have a great time wherever you stay in London.
