London on a Sunday
Given the wealth of information on this web site, I have truly enjoyed scrolling through the various postings as I prepare for a trip to the UK in February. I will be in London for a long weekend - arrive on a Saturday morning and depart Tuesday morning. Here's my question: Which landmark attractions are closed on Sundays? By landmark I mean Westminster Abbey, the Tower, St. Pauls, etc. Wishing to maximize the little time I'll have in London, I want to make sure that I don't waste half of the day that Sunday going to places that aren't open. Any insights would be greatly appreciated.

Hi
You will need a basic guidebook anyway imo, but if you click at the top of this screen on Destinations you will get lots of info on basic London sightseeing including what's open and closed when.
The Tower is open

www.hrp.org.uk
almost all museums are open, Cabinet War Rooms are open.
The Abbey is closed except for services on Sundays--it may be open for casual visits between services, but there are better days to plan your visit

Obviously St Pauls and Westminster Abbey won't be closed on Sundays! That is for worshipers. Paying gawpers will not be admitted.
The rest, like the Tower will be open as normal.
If you plan on visiting Westminster Abbey, you should know that it closes at lunchtime on Saturday.

You will probably want to take advanatage of the Speakers Corner in Hyde Park on Sunday, starting about noon, can be interesting and then along the road in I believe it is Bayswater and Hyde Park, on Sunday, all the art work for sale along the fence, rain or shine. Was there about 3 weeks ago and Sunday was the only day we had a little rain and even then they had their weekly art show. Enjoy. Halfpint

You can do a lot of sightseeing - nothing much is closed on Sundays except for the churches and many shops. But I would try to avoid going to the Tower of London on a Sunday. That is the most crowded day at the Tower -- in Feb it won't be terrible but still more crowded than other days.
