London Just Airports Transfers

I apologize if this is double posted but I am not sure how to get the post with the London group.

We are trying to decide between using Just Airports and Ray Skinner's transfer service from Gatwick to London. Just Airports rates are cheaper but they charge 25 pence per minute for additional wait time.

Can someone who has used them let me know if their "sedans" are big enough for 2 adults and two 26" suitcases and one 22" Rollarboard? When I emailed Just Airports their reply said we would need their Estate car which is more costly. Have any of you used the Sedans with the type of luggage we will have?

BTW, I noticed Just Airports states their drivers are "self-employed". Does this make a difference in their dependability??

Thanks and much appreciation for any help or advice you can give.

Use Aircars2000 - aircars2000.com

Superb service, comfortable, clean cars, refined and intelligent drivers - very good rates for cash, they are always on time.

I wouldn't waste your time with the other people.

We used "Just Airports" to pick us up at our hotel, Ramada Jarvis, and take us to Gatwick for our return. They charged 35 GBP, no credit cards or it would be higher. The gentleman was on time and waiting in the lobby 10 min. before the scheduled time. In fact, I was late a 1/2 an hour and we weren't charged anything additional.

Now, regarding the "sedan". It was an old Toyota or Nissan looking vehicle. Like an old Camry from the 80's. It was not clean and certainly nothing to look at.

To me, it served a purpose and was pretty cheap. We quoted many others and no one was under 70GBP.

I'd use them again. The driver was pleasant enough and on-time. The vehicle wasn't a limo but it did the job.

Oh, and the 2 suitcases and rollerboard will fit. We had more than that.

Aircars2000 will charge 60 pounds cash for LGW and 40 pounds cash for LHR.

Magna04,
We used JustAirports last month for pick-up at Heathrow and return. Driver was waiting at the appointed place and time with a sign with our name on it. The car was a four door Mercedes sedan. Return driver was on time at our hotel. This car was a four door Ford Tauras. Both drivers wore sportcoats and ties and were very friendly. Cash price is much cheaper than credit card.

Thanks for the info and the advice. Did any of you who used Just Airports or Ray Skinner have any additional fees added to the charge? I emailed Ray Skinner 3 days ago about any other fees but have not received a reply yet.

From the type of cars you describe used as sedans, I am wondering why Just Airports says I should book the "Estate" car. A sedan should do the job. Thanks again!

An estate is just a station wagon. Two 26 in. and one 22 in. suitcases is a fair amount of luggage and might be too much for one of their sedans. The luggage needs to fit in the boot (trunk).

I used JustAirports last month to go from London E1 to LHR and everything was just fine.I had requested a Saloon for two of us and the driver arrived with a Volkswagen Mini-van.There was no extra charge for the larger vehicle as it was not asked for.I was charged £24 for the ride, which took 55 minutes, and added a 10% tip.Just make sure you pay in cash for the lower rate.

I've used Ray Skinner's service many times and have never been disappointed. All the same, Just Airports has been gaining popularity on this forum for good service and cheaper prices. I've recommended them to friends and I also plan to use them in London in a couple of weeks.

I think the Just Airports is erring on the side of conservative when they tell you that two 26 inchers and 22 inch bag will require a larger car. (Their experience probably says that the actual luggage load will be double that...) Go with the smaller car.

DON'T listen to m_kingdom2. He/she is the poster child for Fodors Bad Joke.

Definitely be ready to pay cash. Price lowers subtantially.

How strange that a local Londoner is pushing this Aircars 2000 which charges 40 pounds from Heathrow when Just Airports tends to charge about 25 for the same trip. Maybe cost isn't important to that poster. I've only heard good comments about Just Airports. I've always paid only 25 pounds for Swiss Cottage cars as well with great cars and service. Although their new website indicates much higher prices, I'm told that if you call them instead you will still get a rate closer to 25 or 28 pounds.

I used Ray Skinner's service 2 years ago to pick me and 3 other adults up from Gatwick and take us to Notting Hill. A nice man in a suit was waiting for us with my name on a board. He had a van, which gave us plenty of room for 4 adults and luggage. I would use them again.

We were very pleased with Justairports. They do allow 1 hr and 10 min waiting time from when the plane lands (they start chargin after that). In our case, the plane was early and we actually arrived a few minutes before the driver. When I Pirced (just a couple of weeks ago, we used them last week), I think the sedan and estate were the same price. We had an estate, which is a minivan, but there were 4 of us with 4 bags (2 large, 2 small). We paid cash (cheaper than credit card) for roundtrip heathrow/Sout Kensington, 51GBPs. I thought this was very reasonable, and it turned out to be very easy and convenient.

I use Aircars2000 whenever I require an airport transfer. Their fleet comprises Mercedes saloons, and their drivers are all refined and interesting to talk to. I am advising you to use them as I always enjoy doing business with them.

My wife and I are arriving at Gatwick about 10 am and I need to find out the cheapest way to get us from Gatwick to our rental car office by about 1230 pm. The office is located at the Sheraton Heatrow hotel on Colnbrook Bypass near the Heathrow airport. I can't change my reservation for a pickup at Gatwick without a significant increase in my rental contract, plus a drop fee. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated...Thanks

We just returned from London using JustAirports. Originally, due to our luggage, I was informed we'd need a different vehicle (I never did figure out which sort of vehicle was which), but after a few days and a second request, the price dropped, and we were transported (£31 Heathrow to Aldwych, £26 returning) in a very new mini-van by terrific drivers.

Be sure to bring along a printed copy of your e-mail confirmation as the first driver attempted to charge us £5 for waiting time (though our flight was actually early and the e-mail specifically stated included waiting time) and check your watch when your arrive, and again when you find your driver. We had a 25", 28", and three small bags. A driver was at the appointed place (across from Hertz) when we arrived holding a sign with our name on it. We had the hotel concierge confirm our return the day before. Driver arrived a few minutes early. We were very pleased.
