My husband and I are planning a trip to London. We are considering early September to avoid heavy tourist crowds. I am interested to know what the typical weather would be in around the 1st 2 weeks of September. Hopefully, that is a less rainy tiime of year? Also, is there anything we would miss (places closed etc..) by going in Sept. instead of mid-summer?
London in September?

The "I'm moving/I'm coming home" Italy Trip Report...

Whatever time of year you come to our fair land, the weather will be, what the weather will be. That's why we talk about it so much.
That said, we tend to get indian summers so you maybe in luck. Pretty much everything should be open (not sure about Buckingham Palace)
I have been planning a trip to England and Wales for September, 2002 for two years now. In order to anticipate the weather somewhat, I checked the weather website every day in Cardiff, Wales during the month of september 2001. Day time temperatures were 50-65 and it rained or showered 4-5 days out of seven. Of course Cardiff is further southwest than London and right on the ocean. Still, I'm sure you can expect showers quite often; that said, it's been my experience (6th trip to England) that the showers are just that. Nothing like our storms in Texas; just carry an umbrella and have fun!
