Can anyone recommend a london hotel for $200 or less? everytime I thought I'd found one I read reviews and they were terrible. I'm trying priceline for the first time, but we will be there 9 nights. I'm thinking that it will be hard to get a priceline bid for that many nights. Any thoughts? thanks

For 9 nights I'd definitely consider a flat. There are lots of flats for £100 a night - or there abouts.
If you want to use PL for a hotel, you'll probably need to break it up into 2 or 3 bids (and may have to move hotels)
I got brave and used Priceline with great success. I'm a fan now.
Congrats, and welcome to the PL fan club!! I'm a member too.
Hi travelbug....would you be willing to post the hotel(s) and prices you got from Priceline? I'm planning to visit London and would like to keep my nightly room cost to around $200.
luna and simone, B&B belgravia. check reviews on www.tripadvisor.com.
stayed in both. both are very nice and below or around $200.
I second the suggestion to perhaps consider a flat. You will probably find perfectly acceptable hotels in that price range but they will be in not so great parts of London and/or very very small rooms. Fine for a night or 2 but less so for 9.
We're staying at The Bonnington in Bloomsbury this Thanksgiving for $198 a night for five nights. At other times of the year the prices are different. We booked with British Airways Holidays. A full breakfast is included with this price.
Try the "K&K George" - I just checked online and the room was around 120 pounds.
We stayed there last summer for 3 nights and loved it. The rooms are on the small side - but typical for London. Everything was VERY clean and we loved the garden in the back - it was very relaxing to come back after a long day of walking. Also a very comprehensive breakfast is included.

Also - this is just a few blocks from a tube station. And if you want to splurge for a very, very good dinner try Lou Pescados (sp?) just a few blocks away.
You won't regret staying here!
We used Priceline for two rooms for 7 nights in London last September and for $105 USD per night got the Millennium Gloucester Hotel in South Kensington ( www.MillenniumHotels.com ) We had a great stay, the staff was friendly and even upgraded our rooms upon check in. We had plenty of closet space, a large dresser, desk, club chairs, what had to be the most comfortable bed I've ever slept in, down comforters, fluffy pillows. The bath was sparkling clean, there were lots of towels, plenty of amenities and a heated towel bar. I looked for hotels under $200 USD and was not happy with what I was finding, a flat was an option but Priceline was much cheaper and we had daily maid service and nice accommodations. I have no interest in cooking meals or doing laundry on vacation so I didn't pursue the flat idea. I would keep trying Priceline and of course look for something (cancelable) in the meantime so you don't get stuck.
oops - here is the direct link to the hotel we won on Priceline September 2006, two rooms, 7 nights, $105 USD http://www.millenniumhotels.co.uk/millenniumgloucester/index.html
Marthag: The hotel I got through Priceline is the Hilton Metropole at Edgware Road. I paid $100 plus tax. The hotel's rates for that time are around 100 GBP. I'm very happy with the price I got. I've listed the details on www.biddingfortravel.com
hi!
you can check out "cumberland hotel" located at marble arch. i stayed there before and paid 80GBP a night. rooms are a bit small, but excellent furnishings and clean rooms. flat screen TV..etc.
thanks to everyone - I'm set for this trip with my priceline reservation, but I'll save the other suggestions for a later trip.
