London Hotel/B & B

I am looking for a cute, clean, small hotel or B & B that is moderately priced. Is there anyone who has had a positive experience in London at a smaller hotel? Any suggestions?? Thanks.

I stayed at a small, cute, clean, friendly bed and breakfast near Hyde Park, but actually Paddington was the closest tube station. The street was quiet and had big trees. It was called The Fairways Hotel and had a really nice full English breakfast included. My teenage daughter says that we have to stay there again when we go back next summer! I can't remember the price because it was 2 years ago but it was very reasonable. Frommer recommends it on his website and in his book. The Fairways website is:

www.scoot.co.uk/fairways_hotel

The best rooms (on the 2nd floor) have french doors that open onto a balcony.

Hi, We stayed at the Traveler's Inn County court. It was incredibly convenient.. very resonable... clean..large room and I believe 99 pounds per night. Comfortably held our family of 4..may have less expensive rooms for 2...they have a web site.

Hi Jennifer,
My favorite B&B is in Kensington. They have a website you can check out. It is: www.surfpacific.co.uk/47warwickgardens The home is very nice and the hosts are friendly. It is in a very nice part of Kensington and it's around 40 pounds a night. Have a nice trip!
Be prepared for small bedrooms and high prices! Look at the smoothhound.co.uk site for hotels in any price range you designate. On many of them you can click on a "brochure" and see pictures of the outside of the hotel, the reception area, the breakfast room and one or more rooms.

We enjoyed the Norfolk Plaza Hotel on the pretty and peaceful (quiet at night!) Norfolk Plaza, only a 5-minute walk from Paddington Station (and tube stop). If you contact small hotels and B&Bs directly and politely ask for a special rate for a stay of several nights, they will often give you one. Have fun!!

Jennifer, How about trying something a bit different, steeped with history that will take you back to your days as a young girl? Pax Lodge, the facility for Girl Scouts & Girl Guides around the world is where I'll be staying in August. It's affordable, breakfast included, and I think you may enjoy it very much. They have a web site, easy to find, (can't remember the URL for now) and it's helpful if you are a registered Girl Scout--they give better prices to us! Membership in the Girl Scouts is only $7/year. Well worth it!
