We stayed at the Elizabeth in London about 3 weeks ago. On the plus side it provided protection from the elements. The location was nice, about a five minute walk from Victoria station which made our departure via Gatwick very easy (you cancheck your luggage at Victoria straight through to your destination on British Air). The staff at the Elizabeth were not rude but seemed totally disinterested. Breakfast was barely palatable, not up to the usual standard of the "full English breakfast". The room was adeguate in size and beds were ok, floors a little creaky. Altogether, I would go back only if I couldn't find similar, conveniently located hotel.

I stayed at the Melia White House in London last November. It was very nice, clean and in a very good location near busses, subway and walking distance to quite a bit. Our package included a buffet breakfast that was really very good. Our room was rather on the small side - but we didn't really mind as we didn't spend a lot of time there. My sister and her husband had one of their renovated rooms and it was a lot nicer than ours. Maybe you could ask for one of those. I would definitely stay there again.
