Dennis: For what it's worth...

I can highly recommend the London Hilton (the flagship) on Park Lane. It's big -- but I found the service to be very personal. And very nice.
If you can swing it, stay on the executive level --the rooms have been recently rehabed and are very comfortable -- small but exceptionally tasteful and clean.
Colleagues have told me the basic rooms are no great shakes. But the top floors are great -- and the views are fantastic.
I travel to London once a month, and I've also stayed at the Hilton that's in Holland Park. Kind of sleep location but nice. Small rooms, but very clean. Professional service. Nice neighborhood.
Good luck.
Mike

I have a room at the Hilton Mews for a few nights at 50 GBP/night then return to London a few days later and have a room at the Hilton Green Park at the same rate. Both appear to be very well located - Mayfair/Hyde Park corner area and at that rate should be a steal. Will post when I return as to the experience.
