Inspired by Mathieu's recent post (www.fodors.com/community/europe/london-gtg-friday-october-26th.cfm?9) - anyone in London November 22-25 (US Thanksgiving weekend) and interested in getting together with fellow Fodorites? SO and I will be staying in central London (St James Park tube area) and armed with our trusty Oyster cards so could travel to wherever.

We should be around!
I'm around then, too.
Well this looks like a quorum! Open to suggestion for time and place - casual, of course.
Anyone else around and interested?
Do you prefer an after work pint or something on the weekend?
Dang,I am on vacation otherwise I would have bid a London layover to meet the gang!
In the City on a week night my favs are:

Williamsons in Bow Lane: http://www.nicholsonspubs.co.uk/williamsonstaverngrovelandcourtlondon/
Old Dr Butlers Head by Moorgate: http://www.shepherdneame.co.uk/pubs/moorgate/old-doctor-butlers-head
Jamaica Wine House off Cornhill:http://www.shepherdneame.co.uk/pubs/london/jamaica-wine-house
Or on the weekend we could hit one of the pubs on the river:
The Anchor: http://www.taylor-walker.co.uk/pub/anchor-bankside-southwark/p0977/
Founders Arms near Tate Modern: http://foundersarms.co.uk/
The Market Porter at Borough Market: http://www.markettaverns.co.uk/the_market_porter.html
Blackfriars: http://www.nicholsonspubs.co.uk/theblackfriarblackfriarslondon/
Another one I like is the Coal Hole on the Strand: http://www.nicholsonspubs.co.uk/thecoalholestrandlondon/
Just some ideas...I am happy to go anywhere
I will be in Brighton, but could easily ride the train to London on the 24th...
A quirky one, along the lane between Villiers St and Northumberland Avenue by Embankment tube station, is the Ship and Shovell: two small separate bars on opposite sides of the lane. The smaller one has an upstairs room, the larger one is one open room (come to think of it, might all that be confusing?).
Here's the link for the ship and shovell...another great option http://shipandshovell.co.uk/
We'll be several weeks too late for this, but I am grateful for the pub suggestions.
We arrive Thursday morning and likely will not be in terribly good shape that evening, so the weekend is perhaps better. Saturday 24th would be a good choice.
If everyone prefers Saturday the 24th I'll have to give it a miss, but if anyone is thinking the 23rd I can almost definitely take the train in. But, please don't plan around me!
Do you have room for 1 more? I'm in London 18-25 November with a flexible schedule unless I decide to buy theater tix ahead of time but that's not likely. Drinks and/or dinner works for me!
Pat.
We could do Friday 23 Nov at 6:30 somewhere...?
The more the merrier!
Sounds like a plan.
Sounds great! Will await details
Yay! Someone more familiar with the options can choose the pub. I'll just show up! See you all next week.
I'll show up at time and place chosen. Never having met anyone from this group before, how will I know you? I'm guessing most pubs will be well attended at 6:30 on a Friday!
Pat.
We'll be the ones in orange and navy
I will try to remember to bring along my souvenir neon orange Fodor's fold up bag and keep it displayed.
Anyone who wants to connect via email can get to me using the address jphinc[at]grandecom[dot]net
We haven't decided where yet. Shall we just plump for a pub? I've no particular preferences; everywhere will be pretty busy at that time on a Friday - but won't the City ones be a bit hard for visitors to find, unless we agree to meet at the nearest tube station (St Paul's?).
Hey Pat-where do you live in Chicago? I am up in the NW suburbs.
@dutyfree,
I'm on the NW side of the city, in Edgebrook.
Howdy, neighbor!!
Pat.
Ok let's meet at bank underneath the duke of Wellington monument (take the corn hill exit) at 6:15? And let's head to the Jamaica wine bar...it will be busy at first but we can stand outside or in one of th areas...
At street level beside the monument? You're on.
Map etc, here:

Great, see you all there!
thank you. Pat.
Oh, I'd love to come along and join you, to meet old friends and new, but it's my daughter's graduation day in Southampton on the 23rd.
Hopefully another time.
It's a date!
Looking forward, you all!
We'll be thinking of you.
Aw, now don't cry, gtg - we'll toast to you!
Well, ok then. Just remember me and my SO and the good times we had in London. I'm going to wring out my hankie now.
We will miss you gtg!!!
Well, I'm not going to be able to make it after all. I've been fighting a cold the last few days and today I lost the war. So, I'm taking my cold tablets, chicken soup and tissues and going back to bed. Wish I had the energy to suck it up and join you.
Hope you all have a great time.
Pat.
Wishing you all the best, Pat, but it might be just as well to keep the germs to yourself - in the nicest possible way....! Another time, maybe.
Hope there's something suitable on TV tonight.
Hey all -- I'm out as well (obviously, as you're meeting in 15 minutes and I'm at home typing this)!
My little guy is unwell and I've spent the day knee deep in tissues and watching cartoons. My husband is away and I don't think I could pay a sitter enough to deal with a snotty, whingey 7 year old!
Have a great night. xx
Oh dear, sorry to hear that. It must have been all that swimming!
We had a good old chinwag and some Indian food (thanks for the suggestion, Jamie, it was indeed excellent - http://www.rajasthan1.co.uk/)
It was another great meet up!! Great to see you again Patrick, and lovely to meet you both, Seamus!! I hope the rest of your trip is fantastic!
Glad the Indian was enjoyed!
This brings fond memories of my own meet-up with you all almost a month ago to the very day (Oct 26).
Wished I was back in London again with you all (it's a very snowy day over here today), but glad that a good time was had by all.
What a great Friday night in London! First GTG I have attended where the police were called. Kind of exciting that bikerscott broke a Tube line, too. Jamiekins may have been a bit harsh in punishing him for that by making him go home without a curry. Pity that as the food at Rajahstan was quite good indeed - so good that my SO had an Indian food epiphany and has now decided he likes it after all. That may owe something to the excellent dinner company provided by PatrickLondon, of course.
Pat, hope you are feeling better and BKP, hope your wee one is, too.
gtg, know that we remembered you and toasted you and SO.
P.S. to Jamie (and anyone else interested) forget Wahaca, get thy self to Lupita's for authentic Mexican. We stumbled on the place at Embankment just to the side of Charing Cross station about half way to Strand. Run by folks from Mexico City, and food was terrific, especially the carnitas and tacos al pastor.
Haha I just saw that place yesterday and put it on my list to try! Thanks for the recommendation!!
So glad you guys enjoyed the curry...sorry we weren't able to stay...we will have to meet up again!!
So glad you all had a great time. My little one rallied yesterday for a Thanksgiving dinner with friends but is now spending another day on the couch with cartoons . . . hope he doesn't think he gets out of school tomorrow!
<<forget Wahaca, get thy self to Lupita's for authentic Mexican>>
Absolute truth. We've been a few times now and love it. Our go to Mexican in London was Crazy Homies out past Notting Hill, but Lupita's is so much more convenient for us, coming and going from Waterloo.
Julia-just saw that your daughter was graduating from Soton. I cannot believe that the past few years have gone by so fast since we last chatted about her going there on these threads, My daughter is moving from Southampton in December and I will be sad to see her move as I have some fav spots down there.
When is the next London GTG guys-I want to come!!!
sounds like you all have a wonderful time and I'm happy for that. disappointed that I couldn't be there though....and I so love Indian food. Next time!!
Happy holidays to all.
Pat.
