London???

Spending 2 weeks in Italy with my wife & 12 year old daughter. We leave Philadelphia, PA @ 7pm, (12 midnight, London time) via British Airways. We arrive in London @ 7am. Our flight to Milan does not depart until 5pm. Aside from sleeping on the plane, any suggestions on getting a bed during the 6 hour delay between flights. If sleep is out, any recommendations on what to do for 6 hours, while immersed in jetlag.
Thanks

Find out about checking your bags through to Milan, either from home, or at Heathrow.
Then, go into London by Tube, you'll have 6-7 hours, go see Big Ben and walk by Buckingham Palace, have a meal, then hop back to the airport.
Or, do as already suggested, and go to a hotel and sleep or relax.

There really isn't any reason your bags shouldn't be checked through to Milan but a good idea to make sure when you initially check in.

Depending on how much sleep you actually get on the plane/amount you need each night I'd definitely consider getting a hotel at the airport in which to get some more sleep/relax. Otherwise gor for a very FAST overview of London, assuming you'll be able to stay awake.

Those flights from the east coast to London are the ones that I find it hard to get a lot of sleep on because the flights are so short and very often arrive ahead of time.

Assuming you are up for it, I would either go into London (but it'll be such a fleeting visit, it may not be worth it) or you could go to Windsor which is nearer (there is the Castle there and Eton is close by).

Getting a hotel and sleeping until mid-afternoon will not help you with jetlag. It may well just make things worse for the next day. Therefore I'd try to stay awake until you arrive in Milan and just sleep after arriving there. But when it comes to avoiding jetlag, everyone's different as there are countless long threads here about it.
