I will be in London early June, and staying at the Courthouse Doubletree. Is there any benefit to buying a "London Pass with Travel". I saw this and it gives you discount on certain attractions and allows for unlimited us of the tube. Not sure if this is a good thing or not? Also, which train would we take to go and see Windsor? Any other suggestions or must see sights would be appreciated.

It's the universal advice of posters here that:

1. The basic London Pass is a waste of money. A huge proprtion of what it offers is free anyway, and you'd have to spend most of the day running between sights to get full value out of what you'd paid

2. The London Pass with travel is, for anyone staying reasonably central, so much more an even bigger waste of money that UK Immigration will deny entry to anyone with one, because we've got more than enough people of our own with an IQ of 0.32. A basic travel pass from any statuion or convenience store will be cheaper: if there's 2 of you, search for the Travelcard 2 for 1 offer.

3. To get to Windsor: either a direct train friom Waterloo or most trains from Paddington stop at Slough, where you change.

Thanks for the advice. I will look for the Travelcard upon arrival at Heathrow. So a day in Windsor is recommended? How long does it take to travel to Windsor from the Regent Street area?

Just to direct your research--you may have already figured this out--If you are looking at using 2for1 vouchers, you will need a PAPER travelcard issued at a National Rail ticket office which can NOT be found at LHR. You can get get an Oyster card with pay-as-you-go cash OR a travel card "loaded" onto it at the Underground ticket office at LHR and use that for your whole stay. So 1.look at daysoutguide 2for1 vouchers and decide if there are any sights on that list you want to go to. 2. if there are, then you will need to arrange a trip to a National Rail ticket office for the paper travel cards; if there aren't any vouchers you want to use, then just get an Oyster card at LHR 3.if you are riding the Tube from LHR, you will need an Oyster card anyway, whether you choose a payasyougo plan or "load" a travelcard value on it (but the plastic Oyster cards don't work with 2for1). The agents will be helpful for deciding what value (cards/cash/ combination) to load on an Oyster card.

Just be glad you got advice and didn't waste money on any of the Passes.

As to must see sights, how long do you have? Is this first trip? There is plenty to keep you occupied in London for several days without day trips, but it does depend on your interests. Plenty of threads here about itineraries for different number of days.
