London - Home Depot

Strange question (I'm asking for my DH!)
... Does anyone know of a Home Depot/Lowe's type store near London's Heathrow airport?

I know you asked this yesterday under a different title and didn't get any responses. All I can see is when we were trying to find our hotel "adjacent" to Heathrow a couple years ago, we finally pulled into a place and asked directions. When I got back in the car I said, "don't look now, but I think that was a Home Depoot". I was being facetious, but it was very much like one -- sorry I don't know the name of the place but it was almost right across from where most of the rental car return places were.

B&Q is the UK's Home Despot. I'm sure they'll have a website.

Ok, so I'm guessing that Home Depot is a DIY store? Or is it more?

Uk DIY superstores are:

B&Q: www.diy.com
Homebase: www.homebase.co.uk
Wickes: www.wickes.co.uk

These are all big, out-of-town warehouse-type places. I'm sure they'll all have store locators on their websites.

I KNEW you guys would come through. I found one w/i 15 minutes of the airport. Kate, I'll check out your recommendations too - and yes, it is a DIY store.

I have not been to the other stores suggested but I feel certain Homebase is owned by / somehow related to Home Depot because the signage all looks pretty much the same. There is one in/near Richmond which is fairly close to Heathrow - 20-30 minutes. I don't know for sure if there is one closer to Heathrow but it sounds like Neopolitan passed by one. I only mention this b/c whatever you are looking for at a Home Depot type store, you may have more success at the very similar Homebase.

I tried googling B&Q and came up with a reference on the site that lists traffic speed cameras. Apparently there is one near Heathrow by the Hilton Hotel, and it says right as you pass by the entrance to B&Q. Does that make any sense to anyone?

I think I've found a Home Depot in Ealing on King Street. It looks to be about 10 km from Heathrow. Thanks everyone.

If you've found a shop called Home Depot in Ealing, London you're going to be in for a surprise.

Whatever it is or does, it most certainly isn't something those nice people in Atlanta have anything to do with.

The US chain has no stores outside North America. There are constant rumours about its taking a stake in B&Q, but those rumours have been floating around for at least 15 years and never get anywhere. They've never had any connection with Homebase.

If your husband really wants the closest thing to a Home Depot, he should look for a B+Q Warehouse (which B+Q simply copied from Home Depot) in their storefinder. Their other subbrands, and all Homebases and Wickeses, are pretty minnowish by comparison.
