London - Cherry Court vs St. Margarets

I have been quoted 55 GBP for Cherry Court (not a full breakfast - fruit only) and 92 GBP for St. Margaret's (full breakfast).

Seems like I should go with Cherry Court - but wondering if there is a reason why St. Margaret's would be better.

Thanks!

Pam

I've stayed at the Cherry Court, and loved it..we're going back in September and staying there. Mrs. Patel, who owns/runs the place is an outstanding hostess...and I just saw on the Rick Steves "Traveler's Helpline" that immediately following the 7/7 attack in London, she posted her phone number and an open offer to anyone who would need help.

The rooms at Cherry Court are small, but clean and comfortable, and we liked the location. We were able to easily walk to Buckingham Palace, and had easy access to the Victoria Station tube stop.

Their "breakfast" isn't much. There's a Starbucks about a block away that made my breakfast of coffee and a roll for far less than the 37 British Pound difference between St. Margarets and the Cherry Court.

Happy travels,

Jules

I've stayed at the Cherry Court and didn't have as nice a time as jules4je7. The price can't be beat in London, but they are absolutely the smallest rooms I've ever stayed in. Imagine a small room, and then imagine it after they've carved out part of it to squeeze in a shower/bathroom.

The room wasn't big enough to open my suitcase on the ground; I had to put it on the bed to access. And when my wife and I were crossing to other sides of the room, one of us had to sit on the bed. I laughed out loud when I had to sit on the toilet and my feet were in the shower.

On the plus side, it's a reasonably quiet location yet still close to the Victoria tube stop. They have a computer in the very narrow lobby that you can use to check your email. And the breakfast is nice because it's always nice to have some fruit while you travel. Don't consider it a breakfast - it's a snack.

Sorry, I can't comment on St. Margaret's. Cherry Court worked for us because we were out all day sightseeing. But if I go back to London, I'll probably be seeking out other accomodations.

Although I haven't stayed at St. Margaret's, I've known people who have, and they like it very much. I like the Bloomsbury area, and usually stay at a hotel near St.Margarets - Bloom's Hotel, and have thought I might like to try St. Margaret's, since it is much less expensive. I am guessing your quote at 92 GBP is for an en suite room. Many of their rooms are not.
