Could anyone tell me where I can rent a log cabin or similar in the Highlands for New Year? It needs to sleep up to 10 people, be reasonably well furnished and be located somewhere with great scenery (but preferably not cost the earth...!)
It's proving (surprisingly) a bit tricky to find anything suitable from Googling, so any advice as to where to start looking would be hugely appreciated

Try Cottages and Castles. They've got one at Torridon. But if you mean this New Year you will likely be FAR too late. We normally have to book the best part of two years in advance for such a big house.
Does it have to be a log cabin?
How much do you want to spend? Most self catering properties charge a huge premium for Hogmanay bookings. Like double+ what they'd be the first week in Dec.
There are lots of large self catering properties in Scotland - only a very few of them are log cabins.
