My family (two adults, two kids) will be spending a week in Norway this summer and were planning on going with Norway in a nutshell. Our travel agent is telling us that all of the rooms are only double occupancy, meaning that we will have to reserve two separate rooms for each night. This doesn't make sense to me, but I have never travelled to Norway before.
Any advice from those who have travelled this area with kids would be much appreciated.

When we stayed in the Geiranger Fjord, we stayed in a cabin that could accommodate at least 6 persons. You might be able to find similar arrangements within the NIN itinerary.
In Bergen the First Hotel Marin has family rooms.
With the Fjord pass, which you can buy via NIN you can also book cabins at a discount as well as hotels. Some hotels will charge 200NOK for an extra bed in the room. Not sure if they will allow 2 extra beds though. A lot depends on the ages of the kids I guess.
Oh and Norwegian hotel rooms tend to be small! Even in expensive hotels, so there may not be room for extra beds anyway.
I'm not sure what 'going with Norway in a Nutshell' means. Is this some longer trip taken together with Norway in a Nutshell which can be done in a day? If you're spreading the Nutshell trip over several days then you get to choose where you want to stay.
Your travel agaent is wrong. You can book ( through NiN) any kind of room that the hotel offers and that may be the catch as family type rooms are rare. You can also book hotels separate from NiN and you may find more options that way.Check on the Fjord pass that hetismij2 mentioned.
Almost six months ago I looked at NiN but ended up making my own bookings (train/ferries from Bergen to Balestrand,Stalheim and Flam ending up in Oslo) a three day tour which is basically an extended NIN. I also booked hotels to be sure and get exactly what I wanted. All very easy.
