lodging base suggestion for Segovia area with a toddler?
Hello,
We will be in the Segovia region in late June with our 1.5 year old daughter. We want to see Segovia, Pedraza and the other nice towns in the area, but I'm struggling with the question of where we should base ourselves. Having a toddler in tow is what makes the decision difficult. We want to stay in a nice place, but we need space that includes a living area, a separate bedroom, and possibly a kitchenette. (This obviously limits our choices) A traditional hotel worries me a bit because I don't want to subject fellow travelers to a crying child (always a possibility). There will actually be 5 of us traveling in total, 4 adults and 1 child.
I saw the website of some beautiful apartments/mini houses in a town called Canicosa outside of Pedraza (found through Maribel's guide). In and of themselves, they are exactly what I would want, but I worry that there won't be enough going on (restaurants/town center to explore) in the immediate area. We do plan on taking day trips, obviously, from our base location but it would be nice to have a things to see and do in walking distance, as well.
Any thoughts/suggestions? Thanks a lot for reading!

I am not familiar with Canicosa but there is no doubt the area is intersting. Google Canicosa and you will find trip report re a restaurant in Canicosa called CodeX the gets high marks. Do a search on these forums and you'll find that a regular poster, Escrunchy, has been to Canicosa. He may show up.
My guess is that it would be quiet, a 30 minute walk would cover it, but the location puts you in good stead for Pedrazza, Segovia, and Sepulveda.
It might be one of those great places where you could get a better eel for "normal" life in Spain.

Thank you very much for your reply! Maybe I did a search for Canicosa and nothing came up. I also did a search for the restaurant you mentioned and unfortunately it has closed. Maybe I'll create another post inquiring about Canicosa. Thank you for your help!

There are some apartments right in the heart of Segovia that you might want to look at. Name is Refitoleria Apartamentos. www.refitoleriaapartamentos.com (website has link for English)
