Loden coats in Lofer

Are Loden coats available in other towns in Austria or just Lofer? Where is a good store to shop for one? Are the prices similar everywhere?

I bought mne in Hamburg, Germany; I think you can find them in most large department stores and perhaps in trachtenwear shops.

Sales of Loden articles are certainly not confined to Lofer.

Loden clothing including coatd are sold all over Austria and also in some areas of Germany.

Many different levels of quality and thus price.

A fine place in Vienna just across from the Hofburg Palace is Loden Plankl

www.loden-plankl.at

One of the best brands known for high quality is Habsburg

www.habsburg.co.at

sold in numerous shops - one of their own is in Kitzbühel.

Another good brand is Geisswien

They have a factory store in Brixlegg not far off the Autobahn between Innsbruck and Kufstein.
Often good bargains found

www.giesswein.com

also a regular store in Vienna on the Karntnerring.

Salzburg

Stasny and also Salzburg Heimatwerke on the Residenzplatz.

Munich

Loden Frey in the city center.

But many , many more shops easily found.

You're welcome. I hope you love your loden coat as much as I do mine! I was the envy of all the women on a Danube Christmas Markets cruise, as the weather was really cold.

i would love a traditional loden coat. indeed I have some boiled wool jackets that I bought in a previous life. However, here in Cornwall I reckon in a normal winter, I'd get to wear it 2-3 times a year at best.

I did like those lovely winter capes - they might just work!
