Local Help: Barcelona Business Dinner

hello all,

I am hosting a business dinner with clients in Barcelona this week. I was hoping I could get some restaurant suggestions with the following criteria:

- In close proximity to the Palacios de Congresos de Cataluna (NW of the center on Ave. Diagonal)

- Around 50-70 Euros per person (including Entree, Wine, Dessert)

- Ambiance appropriate for business dinner/conversation

- And this all goes without saying, of course, that the food be tasty!

Thanks in advance!

50 - 70 euros/person, including wine, for a business dinner? A difficult quest...

You might want to check out Restaurante Polo and The Garden, both of which are located in Hotel Rey Juan Carlos I.

perhaps i am underestimating my budget? maybe i should say, for entrees around 30 euros? would that make more places available?

and really, any place along ave. diagonal would be convenient. (we could just catch a cab from the conference center.)

You might want to check out the following website. It's a free service.

hookemoph,
I think you need to plan on it costing a bit more just in case. The dining venues at the Hotel Rey Juan Carlos will be the closest to the Palacio de Congresos, but if you're willing to taxi down the Diagonal....

There was a recommendation on the Spain forum of Chowhound of Michelin starred Neichel. Normally I would say it would be over your budget, but my Gourmetour '08 guide says that it has business luncheon set meals for 42 euros along with the degustation menus for 69. I would call.

Thank you both for your recommendations! I re-evaluated my budget and decided that we would taxi down the Diagonal. I will post a report when I return!

On an unrelated note, (I wrote this on the chowhound site as well... perhaps I should start a new thread?) my family and I will be staying near the Palau de Musica. Do you have any nearby casual dining suggestions? (besides the Santa Caterina market restaurant)

We will have an infant with us as well, so something low-key, family-friendly yet still authentic would be wonderful!

Thanks again for all your help!

For low key casual there's a Taller de Tapas near the Palau on Carrer Comtal 28 (they have several locations).

Just remembered...for low key, casual, very moderate prices and non-smoking, there's also Dolça Herminia on Carrer Magdalenes 27, just a block from the Palau de la Música (southwest). It's part of Les Quinze Nits group.

See them all by clicking "We recommend" on the English page.

Thanks again for your help! the Dolce Hermia place has been very convenient!

As for the business dinner, unfortunately, most of the places that I called were not open on Monday evening. (There is some holiday as well, today?) I finally booked a place that you recommended, Boix de la Cerdanya. Hope it is good... I'll post a review after the trip!
