Livorno train to Lucca, Assisi, maybe Cortona?

My cruise docks in Livorno and I would like to possibly go to Lucca, Assisi or Cortona by train. Does anyone know the duration of travel to each town? And should I take an express train (isn't that the EC?) I have been trying to log on to trenitalia and no luck. Keeps posting 2002 train scedule. Also, is it possible to walk from port to train station in Livorno? I am a big hiker and belong to the Sierra Club so a couple of miles is easy for me. Thanks for any help.

www.trenitalia.it or
www.trenitalia.com

From the Livorno Stazione Marittima to the Centrale Train Station is a walk of at least 1500-2000 meters. Should be fine for a Sierra Club hiker.

Some ships disembark at a different port further south in the City of Livorno, from where the walk to the train station would be much longer.

There are also city buses available, as well as taxis.

Hi france,

www.trenitalia.com/en will give you current schedules, even if it does say 2002 or 2003.

Sorry, You cannot see Italy from a cruise ship--but you knew that.
Forget Assisi and Cortona--much too far. See Lucca and Pisa and count yourself lucky.
