Live music in Amsterdam

I'm going to Amsterdam for a weekend and I'm trying to find out where can I see a good live music. I'm into Jazz, Blues and 70's rock.

Well if looking for live music you'll be in Valhalla in Amsterdamned damned damned! Almost every cafe will have free copies of a newspaper entitled something like Uit Krant - Going Out as far as I can tell. Anyway it lists literally hundreds of places with live music. As for jazz, the Bimhuis is always on top of the list for high-class jazz, while smoke-filled places like Mello Mallo (and not just tobacco smoke!) cater to the younger crowd.

If you can make it over to Haarlem on Sunday (or Thursday) evening go to the Proeflokaal In den Uiver at Riviervischmarkt for good jazz and a cozy crowd. You'll be sitting or standing within a few feet of the musicians. Call the Uiver at (023) 532-5399 to confirm hours for entertainment. This brown bar is across the street from the north face of the Big Church.

For live jazz I would suggest Alto Cafe, Korte Leidsedwarsstraat 115.

As already mentioned above, pick up the free entertainment guide that you'll find many places once you are in town. Absolutely tons of listings.
